Portioned was created to solve one of the most common problems after a group meal: figuring out who owes what.Traditional bill splitting often depends on manual math, screenshots, payment requests, or one person trying to calculate everything at the table. This creates confusion, delays, and sometimes unfair payments.

Portioned was designed around real restaurant situations where group orders are rarely simple. One person may order an entree, another may only have a drink, multiple people may share appetizers, and someone may want to split pizza slices based on how much they actually ate.
The app supports this behavior through a practical and easy to use experience. The goal behind Portioned was to build a mobile app that makes splitting bills feel simple, accurate, and collaborative. Users can scan or upload receipts, merge multiple receipts into one bill, assign items to the right people, split shared items by portions or percentages, add tax and tip, and finalize totals with confidence.
Users can scan receipts through the camera, upload from their photo library, manually add bill details, correct scanned items, merge multiple receipts, and apply smart splitting rules. The pass the phone flow allows one person to start the split, then hand the phone to others so each person can select their items and confirm their share.

We shaped the experience around fast receipt capture, allowing users to scan paper receipts, upload receipts from their gallery, or manually enter bill details when needed.
Merge Receipts Experience
The app supports multiple receipt uploads so users can combine separate restaurant bills into one consolidated bill before splitting. This helps prevent missed items and keeps group totals organized.
Smart Split by Consumption
Portioned allows users to split items based on real consumption. Users can divide shared food by portions, percentages, or custom rules so every person pays closer to what they actually used.
Tax and Tip Calculation
The app applies taxes and tips proportionally during the split, helping users avoid manual calculations and giving every person a clearer final total.
Pass the Phone Collaboration
We created a flow where one user can start the bill split and pass the phone around the table. Each person selects their items, adjusts shared portions, confirms their total, and keeps the process moving.
Budget Tracking and Goals
Portioned includes spending goals, budget progress, alerts, and recent activity so users can track restaurant spending directly inside the app.
Trial Scan Before Signup
To reduce friction, users can try one receipt scan before creating an account. This gives them value upfront and helps build trust before onboarding.
