About The Project

Verdantt was designed around everyday household grocery habits. People shop weekly, buy fresh produce, store packaged items, freeze food, plan meals loosely, and often forget what is already sitting in the kitchen. The app supports this behavior through a practical digital pantry system. Users can add items manually, scan receipts, track expiration dates, organize pantry items, browse recipes, plan weekly meals, and generate grocery lists from missing ingredients.
The goal was not just to create another grocery list app. The goal was to build a complete grocery management experience that connects pantry visibility, freshness tracking, recipe discovery, meal planning, and shopping automation into one simple mobile flow.
Verdantt helps users move from guessing what they have to clearly knowing what is fresh, what needs to be used soon, what they can cook today, and what they need to buy next.

Challenges
Grocery management sounds simple until real household behavior comes into play. Users buy different types of food, store items in different ways, forget expiration dates, freeze items, purchase duplicates, and often plan meals without checking what is already available. The challenge was to create an app that feels easy enough for daily use while still supporting the logic needed for food freshness, pantry tracking, recipe matching, meal planning, and grocery automation.
Simplifying pantry management into a clean mobile experience.
Helping users track freshness before food expires or becomes wasted.
Supporting produce, packaged items, frozen items, and meat with different tracking needs.
Our Solutions
A Structured Product Approach
Digital Pantry Management
We created a central pantry experience where users can add, view, organize, and manage grocery items from one place. The pantry acts as the core of the app and connects directly with recipes, meal planning, grocery lists, and freshness tracking. Users can add items manually, track expiration dates, view item status, and manage multiple entries of the same ingredient separately when they were purchased at different times.
Freshness Tracking
Verdantt helps users understand the condition of their grocery items before it is too late. Produce items can move through freshness stages such as fresh, overripe, spoiled, and frozen. For packaged items and meat, the app supports freshness and expiration tracking based on user entered or detected data. This gives users a clearer view of what should be used first.
Expiration Lifecycle Logic
The app was planned with expiration logic based on purchase date, produce lifespan, ripeness stage, and item type. This allows Verdantt to support smarter freshness tracking instead of relying only on basic expiry dates.
Receipt Scanning
Premium users can scan grocery receipts using the device camera. The app extracts item names, identifies possible grocery items, detects potential frozen classification, and shows everything in an editable preview before saving. This removes a major manual step for users who want a faster way to update their pantry after shopping.
Editable Scan Preview
Receipt scanning is never treated as perfect. Users can edit item names, adjust categories, delete incorrect items, and remove non-food detections such as household goods before adding items to the pantry. This keeps the experience flexible and avoids user frustration when OCR results are not fully accurate.
Pantry Based Recipe Suggestions
The app helps users connect available pantry items with recipe ideas. Instead of asking users to start meal planning from scratch, Verdantt gives them a better starting point by showing recipes that match their current ingredients. This makes cooking decisions faster and helps users use food before it expires.
Missing Ingredient Indicators
When users view recipes, Verdantt can show missing ingredients based on pantry availability. This helps users understand what they already have and what they still need to buy. The experience supports smarter shopping because users are not blindly adding items to a list.
Weekly Meal Planner
Verdantt includes a weekly meal planner where users can assign recipes to specific days. This helps households plan meals in advance and reduce last minute grocery decisions. The planner creates a simple structure for the week while staying connected to pantry inventory.
Push Notifications
Verdantt includes push notifications to remind users when items are close to expiry. The app can also suggest recipes based on ingredients that need to be used soon. This helps users take action at the right time instead of discovering expired food too late.
Admin Panel
The platform includes an admin panel to support recipe management, user subscription monitoring, pantry analytics, ad configuration, notification settings, and audit logs. This gives the business side better control over content, monetization, system visibility, and future scaling.
Behind the
Product Vision
Verdantt was built with a clear vision: make grocery management smarter, reduce household food waste, and help people get more value from the food they already buy. The product is not just a grocery tracker. It is a complete food management system that connects pantry visibility, freshness tracking, recipe discovery, meal planning, and grocery automation.
